Deep Space rarely books DJs twice, much less twice in 6 months, but, well – just read what they have to say about

GHE20G0TH1K: Venus X, $hayne, Physical Therapy, Rizzla, Mazurbate, Maduro at tba warehouse venue [11PM/$$15]
I’m not going to attempt to describe GHE20GOTH1K – plenty have already attempted – if the name doesn’t evoke anything interesting for you, chances are you’re going to be too closed minded to enjoy it anyway.  But if you’re intrigued by what it could all mean, check out some of their mixtapes.

Weekend Womp Forecast (Lil Nemo Edition)

The snow can fuck with you. It can make you want to stay in. Even cool guys like Corey Booker will tell you to cancel your party. But just remember – you get out of a party what you put in to it. When the weather gets tought, the jams get tougher. The DJs will throw down somethin extra special. The people who made it out will get down even harder.

So despite the storm cancelling two headliners tonight (James T. Cotton and Kastle both had their flights cancelled), we still advise you to get out there and boogie. Tonight at OUTPUT there’s gonna be some killer house music from Kyle Hall and Jus Ed, amongst others – just make sure to dress warm and get there early since there will almost certainly be a line by 11. MUTUAL DREAMING lost their headliner, but they’re still reinforcing the sound and hanging a parachute from the ceilng, plus they’ve brought in 2 more DJs to fill out the bill, so if yr looking for some raw techno and live PAs, that’s the spot. And the RINSED showcase of the Symbols label is still happening even though label boss Kastle is grounded. You can rest assured that Druid Cloak, Figgy, and the Rinsed residents will step it up.

Everything is still on for Saturday as far as we know. Joe Goddard (of Hot Chip) will be DJing at Cameo Gallery (which is rapidly becoming one of our favorite venues). If you think this is just another guy from another indie band  deciding he’s a DJ, think again – Joe is a very talented house producer, and I hear his sets deliver. Head down to Chinatown for MeanRed’s semi-quarterly DARK DISCO bash, this time featuring heavyweights Martyn + Jacques Greene, plus the young genre blurring producer Morri$ and support from our favorite DJ duo in town, DKDS.  Drum n Bass heads already know that ICICLE is having his NY debut on saturday, but you gotta RSVP to find out where. 285 Kent has more techno for ya on Saturday, with mystery producer Rrose. And finally, Brooklyn Bowl has the always entertaining RJD2.

Weekend Womp Forecast!

Tonight there’s truly something for everyone. Our pick is Addison Groove at Cameo Gallery – this guy is always on the bleeding edge of bass music (and is now running a new label, LIT). As Headhunter he was my gateway to deep dubstep, and it’s incalculable how many people who got turned on to juke/footwork by his immortal tune Footcrab. Every time I see him play, he turns my brain inside out. With support from FaltyDL (whose new LP on Ninjatune is SO GOOD) and SciFi&Fantasy label head Max Pearl

If you like Breaks, then the only place to be tonight is House of Yes for VITAMIN B. They have finally booked Deekline, who is about as legendary as they come for a genre. Plus the residents Barney Iller, Tektite and Tim The Enchanter are all veteran badasses – this one is for serious dancers only (but they are opening up a second chillout room due to the huge expected turnout). Hit up ELECTRIC PUNANNY at the Paper Box tonight for a frenetic mix of dancehall, hip hop and all kinds of global bass – they’re celebrating the third installment of the mixtape series of the same name, and have OG producers Dubbel Dutch and Dre Skull.

VERBOTEN has tINI and Justin Martin at HIghline Ballroom tonight. There are a lot of Justins in house music, but none whose tunes are as funky and ubiquitous as his recent LP on Dirtybird, Ghettos and Gardens (and the two volumes of remixes it inspired). Expensive, but highline is a very nice venue and the crowd is gonna be mad hyped. Finally, if you’re looking for a weirder DIY vibe, hit up AstroNautico – they have  an interesting spectrum of house music tonight from guests Braille (Praveen from Sepalcure) and some live hardware from Octa Octo. Plus the massive Tsunami Bass soundsystem (the one that powers Reconstrvct) and some very talented residents, all for just $8 with RSVP. And the space is really one of a kind (it’s a rave parking garage – no, really)

SATURDAY also has great options – the most interesting of which is definitely IDLE, put together by the Reconstrvct crew and BigUP magazine. It’s an art show featuring the work of Ashes57 (who did so much of the dope art for Outlook Festival) as well as a lineup of exceptionally talented experimental electronic music. No tickets at the door tho, so be sure to get one in advance if you want to go (secret BK location will also be annouced only to ticketholders day of). Over at Le Bain, our boys DKDS are headlining Night People – expect some serious dancefloor-oriented techno and house. Also, you may know two out of the three residents (Lloydski and Eli) from Bushwick’s finest dance party, Tiki Disco. Trust us when we say you’ll be in good hands.  And for all you 90s ravers, DnB legend Photek is in the Webster Hall basement on saturday, while NinjaTune  veteran DJ Vadim will be at Brooklyn Bowl for just eight bucks.

Also don’t neglect to check out all the new additions for February and March!  We’ll be blessed to enjoy two more Reconstrvcts, the return of Bicep, Kyle Hall,  Egyptrixx, Chrissy Murderbot, an Osgut Ton showcase at Output, a Dirtybird showcase at SRB, Turrbotax with Gerry Read and SO MUCH MORE.
