WOMPLIST 75 NYE Edition: Astronautico x Broke City, Lit City, The Bunker, Machinedance Afterz, Mutual Dreaming & Tsunami Bass, Verboten, We Are 2014, Camouflage, Bossa Nova, Glitterball

So it’s a little more than seven hours until 2013 is over, and you STILL haven’t figured out what the fuck you’re doing tonight. Or you have, but want a backup plan in case it sucks/sells out/gets shut down or your friends get wasted early. Or you just looooooooove FOMO. Whatever brings you here, we’re happy to present to you our picks for some great bass music on NYE in NYC tonight, listed in order of how much we had to say about them.

Astronautico x Broke City NYE: MACHINE DRUM, Dubbel Dutch, Jubilee, Obey City, Figgy, Sleepyhead, Michael Jukeson, Dunes, Paul Jones at Steel Drums [10PM-6AM/$25-30]

**UPDATE** Machinedrum has been announced as the special guest.

Two of our favorite bass music parties team up to bring in the new year right. Dubbel Dutch and Jubilee headline – these two get so much play here, they’re practically the resident DJs for WompBlog. But it’s for good reason – tbh they’re the most relevant bass music DJs in NYC. Put on either of these mixes – the latest from Jubilee and Dubbel Dutch – and picture yourself tearing it up on the floor after the big countdown. If that’s something you can picture easily, then this is the party for you. Headliners play from 1-4.

In addition to tons of house, expect an excellent variety of other sounds; grime, jersey club, jungle, footwork, and Prince are all likely. Maybe even all in the same tune. Located in north east corner of Williamsburg, Steel Drums is a bit of a hike from the nearest subway, but it’s a quick cab ride from anywhere in the Williamsburg area. $25 presales available, $30 Door.

LIT CITY NYE: DJ Spinn & Secret Guest, Traxman b2b L-Vis 1990, DJ Tiga, Nick Hook, J-Cush, Durban, TCJ at 285 KENT [10PM/$20-25]
Lit City always throws a banging party (and I can personally testify to how banging their last NYE was) but this one is extra special for a number of reasons. Notably, it’s the first (and possibly last) party at 285 Kent since news of it’s probable closing, so the end-of-the-world vibes will be strong (and it will definitely pack out early). DJ Spinn and a secret guest will be going b2b (our money is on it being DJ Rashad) while Traxman and L-vis 1990 will go b2b for what could be an epic ghetto house set. Two slept-on geniuses, Jersey club bandit DJ Tiga and local celebrity Nick Hook, also guest. At $20, this is a steal. Limited tickets will be available at the door, so get there a little before 10 if you want in.

The Bunker Limited NYE: Bee Mask (live), Mark Verbos (live), Bryan Kasenic, Patrick Russel, Clay Wilson at Trans Pecos 915 Wyckoff Avenue [10-6AM/$30 adv tix ONLY]
The Bunker, antithesis to everything that sucks in NYC dance music. No recording or photos allowed, no trendy venues, no tickets sold at the door. The music, as always, will be a cornucopia of techno including live sets from the venerated Bee Mask and Mark Verbos, and DJ sets from founder Bryan Kasenic, the always-badass Patrick Russel and Clay Wilson.  Advanced tickets at required for entry, and strictly limited to 150 (and as of this writing, some are still left) . Located as far as is reasonable from the inevitable shit shows of trendy neighborhoods.

WE ARE 2014: THE HACKER, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski, Para One, Tony Quattro, Jaw Jam, Branchez, Arnold, Matt FX, Sophia MA lots more at Slake [8PM-8AM/$100+]

**UPDATE** THE HACKER has been announced as the special guest.

One of the only overpriced parties we’ll support, because it’s a hell of a lineup, 3 rooms with great sound, and it’s going till 8am. Ok, the current price of $100 is an unconscionable amount to pay for a party, but the first round of presales were $50 and that was kinda totally worth it.  Gessafelstein and Brodinski (of Bromance Records) and Para One (Sound Pelligrino) headline with their various breeds of party-techno and electro-tinged house. But what really brings this home is the super-deep lineup of WompBlog-approved producers and DJs: Branchez, Tony Quattro, Jaw Jam and the whole Tribes and Bass Squad crews curating the side rooms.

MUTUAL DREAMING NYE: Florian Kupfer, DJ Sotofett & Madteo, Ital, Entro Senestre, Tsunami Bass Sound at Shea Stadium [10PM/$20-30]
Mutual Dreaming has had a great 2013, building a solid reputation on some weird-ass, bangin techno parties featuring parachutes, so I’m willing to bet their last minute addition to the NYE options is gonna be awesome. East w’burg DIY venue Shea Stadium isn’t known for it’s great sound, but Tsunami Bass Experience is bringing in their peerless system for the night, so everything will sound pristine with monstrous low-end.
