WOMPLIST 64: Fixed 9 Year, Cyril Hahn & Hemsworth, Drop The Lime & J-Cush, Filastine, DJ Craze, Subverse: Demon & Biome

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4

BOMBEAT: Filastine (Live!), Nickodemus, 2Melo, Thornato, Atropolis at Drom [12AM/$10]
Filastine is a producer and multi-instrumentalist who makes globally-oriented bass music as his critique of globalization. I wrote about him back in March of last year when his incredible video for Colony Collapse came out. Kinda sounds like Beats Antique but with the dystopian brutality of Lorn. Filastine goes on at 12, followed by global dance party from Nickodemus and the Cumba Mela DJs.

Going all out for their 9 year, Fixed has put together an epic lineup of dance music, including Turrbotax Alum South London Ordnance and UK Bass allstar Midland. Not to mention headliners Waze & Odyssey, who crank out dancefloor oriented house with a definite nostalgic flair. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5

DARK DISCO: Cyril Hahn, Ryan Hemsworth, Henry Krinkle, DKDS at 88 Palace [10PM/$15-25]
Cyril Hahn blew the fuck up this year with his brilliant, idiosyncratic house remixes (I still can’t pick between his Destiny’s Child one or his Solange one). But now that he’s moved into original productions, it’s clear that his pitch-perfect pop sensibility isn’t limited to interpretation. Touring with the Ryan Hemsworth, whose sexy beats are similarly infused with pop (as well as Rnb and rap) is a brilliant move. And Dark Disco is the perfect host for their NYC gig.

SUBVERSE: Demon & Biome (UK), I.N.I., M ax Mischief at 287 Spring [10PM/$17-25]
Super heavy old school dubstep from the Subverse crew, in an intimate Soho location. I got to know Biome’s music through his chill, expansive work released on Deep Heads. But he’s got a whole other side of more aggressive tearout tunes that have come out through M.U.D. Label boss Demon returns for his second outing with Subverse – check out his live set from the debut. It’s a perfectly paced dubstep set.

Trouble & Bass/BMIB Popup: Drop The Lime, J-Cush, Tony Quattro, secret guest at Drom [10PM/RSVP]
Last minute jumpoff from our favorites at Trouble & Bass and veteran promoters Bury Me In Brooklyn. Lit City boss J-Cush joins T&B founder Drop The lime and their newest signing, Tony Quattro (whose new record drops with them next week). Get ready for grime, heavy bass, and that new new #twerkno shit.

Direct Drive: DJ CRAZE, Eshin, Alex English at Slake [10PM/FREEwRSVP]
DJ Craze is pretty much the living god of turntablism, transforming dance music records into an incendiary showcase of scratching and juggling. Honestly, this dude could be spinning polka and I’d be into it. These days though he’ll shred on anything from dubstep to trap to disco house, and puts on such a show that even the snobbiest bass heads can’t help but get into it. Hopefully this event being put on by Direct Drive means he’ll get back to his Drum n Bass roots.
