TIGERMILK: secret guest (Night Slugs), Dj Uniique, Obey City b2b Doctor Jeep, Kuato, The Orator at 70 N 6th St [10PM/$10-15]
A new party from Kuato (of Partyguy Records) and Nick Concklin aka The Orator designed to highlight the connections between many genres of bass music (much like this mailing list!).  Secret Night Slugs headliner is just the cherry on top (hint – it’s probably the one who lives in NYC). Ferocious jersey club/ghettotech from DJ Uniique  should be a treat; Doctor Jeep is one of our favorite bass music dj/producers (check his recent mixpak radio session), and he’s going b2b with another longtime fav, Obey City.  Plus sets from the founders – who clearly know Brooklyn bass music to have put together such a great lineup. Could this be the bass music party we’ve been waiting for?

Percussion Lab x Turrbotax: Archie Pelago, Cromie & Sage Caswell (LA), Braille, Rem Koolhaus, Nooka Jones, C-Sick at Cameo Gallery [11PM/$7-10]
Longtime allies Percussion Lab and Turrbotax hosting Archie Pelago, our favorite DJ/cello/sax trio, and West Coast house producers Cromie and Sage Caswell, who just put out the first record on Rem Koolhaus’s PEACH label. Cromie, Sage and the Archie boys were all regulars of the ‘tax back in the Cove era, so you know it’s a family affair. Plus sets from PercLab’s Braille and Nooka Jones, and Turrbo residents C-Sick and Rem Koolhaus.

The first label night from TUBA, an NYC dubstep label that stays true to the sounds of the old school. Everyone playing has released tracks on TUBA – J-Kenzo is coming in from UK to headline, plus super talented Boston producer Prism. Label-head Bakir and Rozi hold down the support slots. BROKE CITY: Rabit (Keysound), Kuato (Partyguy Records), Sleepyhead, Mohegan Son, Dunes at Bizarre Bushwick [10PM/FREE] Broke City is the Bushwick-based, perpetually free party dedicated to unpredictable permutations of house, juke, rnb, beats, and other dope shit that doesn’t have a name yet. Special guests this week are: Rabit aka Glacial Sound, with his dark, minimal grime beats, and Kuato, founder of Partyguy records and a real connoisseur of NYC party-tastic heavy bass. NIGHT PEOPLE: Curses, DKDS, Eli Escobar, Blu Jemz, Lloydski at Le Bain [10PM/FREE] Record release party for Drop The Lime’s techno alias, Curses. Check out the singleand his promo mix. Very different than his Trouble & Bass material. Still dark, very dancefloor oriented, just trading in the rockabilly swagger and dubstep bass for Vangelis synths and icey drums. Super-heavy disco all night from the a/jus/ted, the duo of 20-something Eddie Mars and Justin Strauss, a 3 decade veteran of NYC dance music. Check out their excellent june mix. This isn’t nice disco. No string arrangements or diva vocals here. Just driving basslines and extra crispy drums, perfect for dancing in dark rooms or driving all night.

DISCOVERY: Free Magic, Faso, and Chris Costello at Glasslands Gallery [11:30/FREE]
Our favorite disco party (4 years in August!) is doing a resident night for FREE! How can this be? Their home venue, Glasslands, has just installed a big new soundsystem, which means Discovery doesn’t have to pay to bring in extra sound. And they’re passing the savings onto us. Really excited to hear the new sound there, as Glasslands will be hosting some acts that demand it later this summer (Phaeleh, Lil’ Silva and L-Vis 1990).

TOP PICK  Gaslamp Killer, Edan (all vinyl DJ set), FaltyDL, Nick Hook, Krampfhaft at Music Hall of Williamsburg [9PM/$15]
GLK is an incredibly high energy performer, viciously mashing crunk hip hop beats, psychadelia, ecstatic middle eastern music and all manner off voodoo via turntables and live controllers. But the real star here is Krampfhaft, who is playing first at 9:30. It’s a special treat to see this guy, as he’s only in town as an RBMA participant before returning to Europe. His necksnapping, lazer-baked beats fuse wonky, juke, and 808 music into something that is clearly from the future. In fact, it was one of his tracks that got DJ shadow kicked off the decks in Miami for being “too future”. Check out his last three EPs – they just keep getting better. Quite frankly I’m terrified of what he’s gonna make next. Also on the bill is Edan doing an all vinyl hip hop DJ set, and NYC gems FaltyDL and Nick Hook.

Lilium is a club in the W hotel. Yes, there’s bottle service, but more importantly, there are good DJs. Chaisley Lussier has impeccable taste in UK bass, Narkatta plays glitch-hop, and Bass Control is electro/progressive house. 2 outta 3 aint bad! Could be a good choice if you have friends that you can never convince to come to BK.

RECONSTRVCT XIII Outlook Launch Party: Author (live), Cyrus, Seven, Jack Sparrow, Ruckspin, Joe Nice, True Nature, Selector Joseph Demension at tba [10PM/$30]
Words can’t describe what a huge deal this is, but I’ll try anyway. Reconstrvct is the best party in Brooklyn; 100% independent, underground and uncompromising. Their lineups are always massively stacked; this one is mountainous. They got the best renegade sound system in NYC (Tsunami Bass), recently upgraded to 40,000 watts of the warmest, cleanest bass I’ve ever heard. Add to that that this is the NYC/US launch party for Outlook, the world’s best bass music festival. People are coming hundreds of miles for this. A Tribe Called Red is a trio that blends native american music with club music and hip hop to great effect. One of the most interesting live electronic acts I’ve heard about in a minute. Joining them is ridiculously energetic funk carioca emcee, Zuzuka Ponderosa, and the hardest working DJ in BK, Jubilee.
