from the XLR8R writeup:
During its nearly three years of existence, TURRBOTAX® has brought a unique mix of artists and DJs to Brooklyn each month. Increasingly hard to categorize, the party can’t be accurately described as being devoted to any one sound in particular, as TURRBOTAX® lineups are just as likely to feature fresh-faced newcomers as they are veteran acts with a litany of classics in their discographies. Detroit’s Anthony “Shake” Shakir may technically fall into the latter category, but recent years have seen a renewed celebration of his back catalog by DJs young and old. (One of those youngsters is none other than fellow Motor City resident Kyle Hall, who recently dropped a single from Shake on his Wild Oats imprint.) This will be Shakir’s debut appearance at TURRBOTAX®, so Brooklynites need to adequately prepare themselves for the all-vinyl assault the man is sure to unleash. The night’s other guest is Madteo, an up-and-coming beatmaker signed to Joy Orbison’s young Hinge Finger imprint. Of course, the full slate of TURRBOTAX® residents—Contakt, Rem Koolhaus, C-Sick, Mayster, and Space Jam—will also be behind the decks, and the requisite free Asahi will be flowing at 11 p.m.
