Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival dropped their full lineup yesterday and put up the first release of festival passes for sale. Headliner highlights include Skream (anything but dubstep set), perennial favorites Oneman & Jackmaster, DMZ’s own Sgt. Pokes (hopefully emceeing for one of the prev 3), Booty Bakery’s breakout star Kaytranada, Ninjatune’s Letherette, Kastle, DJ Sliink, Nick Hook, and Pete Tong. Not to mention some shrewdly chosen support acts that will help put the BROOKLYN back in BEMF; Dan and Blacky from Rinsed, Spinoza and Servito from the Bunker camp, our girl Jubilee, Beto Cravioto, and promising producers from SCI FI & FANTASY label, Lotic, Lamin Fofana and Max McFerren. Exact lineups still TBA but the whole idea is that you buy a pass and bounce around the Willyburg waterfront anyway.
RSVP is open for Mishka’s absolutely bonkers 10th anniversary party on Thursday; We’ll be treated to Plastician and Bok Bok in from the UK, Kingdom, and rap from King Louie, Katie Got Bandz, Cakes Da Killa. Extra props for taking a chance on yung housemeister Cream Dream. It’s happening at Stage 48 (48th between 11th and 12th) and RSVPs are still open for free admission.
Night Slugs finally dropped the lineup for their long-teased Halloween show, featuring a ton of extended fam: Egyptrixx gets top billin, plus Total Freedom, L-Vis 1990, Vissacoor (live), Rizzla, Jubilee, Zebra Katz, Gatekeeper, and perhaps most excitingly, Lit City’s J-Cush b2b grime legend Slimzee. It’s happening at Passions Lounge, which sounds like a bad strip club, but I’m guessing has a great system because the next Variance party (with Silkie) is being held there as well.
DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad will return to NYC to play 2 nights supporting Chance the Rapper at SOBs, October 29 and 30 (Tuesday and Wednesday). On the one hand, it’s kinda wack that these 2 legends are playing second banana to a recently-blown-up blog-rap wunderkid. On the other hand, Chance is fucking dope, I’d love to hear him rap over footwork, and this will expose a lot of kids who appreciate weirdness to the bliss that is Teklife. So unless you wanna get butthurt by proxy about the size of names on bills, there’s nothin to complain about here.
